I always get questions about how I get my waist so small. Well, a lot of that is from genetics. Thanks Mom! Although, I’m thankful most of my weight goes to all the right places-I still have problem areas. Arms, thighs, tummy-you name it. Since December of last year, I’ve been trying to get healthier and lose weight off and on. But, as many of you know, life, work and stress can alter those healthy eating plans. My goal was to reach my ideal weight by July 26th for my friend’s bachelorette weekend in Miami. However, the summer snuck up on me and before I knew it, we were already in late June with only a few weeks until the trip.
So I set out on a mission to lose as much weight as possible before Miami. By any means necessary! I’m not saying these are the healthiest tips, but I was able to go to Miami feeling way more confident and leaner.
YouTube and a quick online Google search will bring thousands of fast and quick weight loss tips. I narrowed them down to a few options that I felt would work best for my body type. Then, I tested them out and stuck with the tips that were showing results. So here are a few tips to lose weight when you’re running out of time. They worked for me, so hopefully they will work for you! I’m no health guru but, needed quick results and got them.
Intermittent Fasting
I have the body type where the least little piece of food makes me feel bloated. So I limited the amount of food I consumed. This also worked for me because I knew I was not going to workout enough to offset extra calories. I started the day typically with a cup of coffee and warm lemon water. I would then fast until 1pm and have fruit and cauliflower rice. Dinner was either a smoothie or salad.
H2O
I loaded up on the amount of water I was drinking. I usually drink the alkaline water from Trader Joe’s or Publix. I cut out a lot of milk, sugary drinks, and soda. It was hard to cut out alcohol! Ugghh! But, if I did have a drink I waited until the weekend. I’m a sucker for champagne or a glass of prosecco. The bubbles can cause me to feel bloated though. So I stuck with vodka and tonic with lots of limes. That is typically a low calorie drink.
Carbs Baby
I love bread, pasta, cookies, cake, donuts, tacos, all of that! I’m a true foodie. I eliminated most carbs, even down to certain types of fruit. However, if I was craving a carb I made sure to either eat it for breakfast OR lunch. Not both and preferably before 2pm.
Green Tea
I always heard about the benefits of green tea as far as helping to burn fat and lose weight. I couldn’t stand the taste until I tried the iced green tea from Starbucks. For some reason I love green tea when it’s lightly sweetened and ice cold. I think green tea also helps to reduce belly fat and curb your appetite. So if you can’t get past the taste of hot green tea, try it iced before you completely rule it out.
Work it Out
I hate working out. I want to love it, but I’m just not there yet. I went for a brisk walk maybe twice during the 3 week time frame. What I did do was find ab workouts to do at home that targeted my lower abdomen. I tried my hardest to do an ab workout nightly, but I can’t say that I did! I do know that focusing on exercises specifically for my lower tummy area worked. Now if I added in some overall body cardio, I would have seen even more results!
Waist Training
This is a hot topic as to whether or not they actually work. I definitely wear Spanx and other undergarments to keep everything looking tight under clothes. But, during this 3 week period, I used my Gold’s Gym waist trainer a lot. I wore it while cleaning up, running quick errands, and even to bed. Yes, I know! It sounds bad, but I still got a good night’s sleep and woke up with my stomach appearing flatter. I’m sure it was just the loss of water weight and sweating. But, I will take it!
So there you have it. My tips for losing weight when you need to drop lbs quick, fast and in a hurry. Until next time!
