This is a super quick post today! I just wanted to share this in case it can help some of my readers. This past Saturday, I literally slept the entire day. Every time I tried to get up I physically could not do it. I have no clue why I was so tired. I mean I have been on the go a lot, but nothing out of the ordinary. At first I was trying to fight being so tired. I felt so guilty for being tired! I was like, oh no, Saturday’s are my time to play catch up for things I didn’t get done during the week. I literally felt bad for being tired!
I decided to listen to my body and just succumb to getting rest. Why do we feel guilty for being exhausted and needing to turn down sometimes? I figured there’s always tomorrow! I woke up the next morning at 8am feeling re-energized as ever. I decided to write a blog post about my experience and, how it’s important to listen to our bodies. Also, there is no shame in shutting down and, definitely no need to feel guilty.
Here are a few tips to help when when your body is telling you to get some rest:
- Listen to your body! It’s better to do what your body is telling you. If you don’t listen you can risk crashing even harder a few days down the road. Which means more time away from things you really want to get done. Even worse, you risk getting sick. If your body is telling you to rest just do it!
- Take a quick social media cleanse! As a blogger it’s tough to completely log off. However, even if you give yourself a 4 hour break from social media, it can really make a difference. Turn off the TV, computer and phone. Your mind and body will thank you later.
- Light a candle and listen to soothing music! If you’re having a hard time shutting the world out try a few self-care techniques. I’m a huge fan of candles and soothing music. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes, try lighting your favorite candle, listening to music, or even enjoying a glass of wine. It can really help energize you!
- Enjoy the rest! Trust me there will be plenty of days where you will be on the go non-stop. Why not just enjoy doing absolutely nothing while you can. Just own it! Tell your friends you can’t go out and log-off of life for a bit. Mask in the beauty of listening to your body and recharging.
There you have it guys! I hope you enjoyed these quick tips on why it’s important to listen to your bodies.
